SUJOY BASAK

Two decades studying why some founders command premium pricing while others compete on cost.

Sujoy Basak is the Founder and CEO of BetterEver, a positioning consultancy that uses behavioural engineering to measure and close the gap between what founder-led B2B service firms deliver and what their buyers actually repeat. He developed the Neuro Positioning Model™ — a four-phase methodology (Diagnose → Design → Integrate → Validate) with three proprietary cognitive metrics: Cognitive Clarity Index (CCI), Trust Response Rate (TRR), and Perception Drift Score (PDS).

BetterEver works with founder-led B2B service firms with 3–30 employees in the US, UK, and UAE. The methodology draws on peer-reviewed behavioural science research, including Kahneman and Tversky’s work on loss aversion and framing effects, and is delivered through the 21-Day Neuro Positioning Sprint.

The Question That Built the Model.

After two decades working with founders across industries and markets, one pattern kept repeating: the founders who commanded premium pricing were not always the most skilled. They were the ones whose buyers could describe them accurately when they were not in the room.
The founders who competed on cost were often technically superior. But their buyers could not repeat what made them different. The market filed them wrong — as a commodity, as interchangeable, as “similar to” someone cheaper.
The answer was not better marketing. It was not a new logo or a tagline rewrite. The answer was a measurable gap between the founder’s intended message and the market’s actual perception. And once you can measure a gap, you can close it.

That insight led to building the Neuro Positioning Model™.

We measure what
others guess at.

Most positioning work is built on opinion. A consultant listens, forms a view, writes a deck of recommendations, and hopes it works. There is no baseline. There is no re-measurement. There is no proof that anything changed.

BetterEver was built on the opposite principle. Every engagement starts with a measured baseline (CCI, TRR, PDS) and ends with a Proof Report documenting what shifted. The methodology is grounded in behavioural science, not marketing intuition. The deliverables are deployed live, not handed off as recommendations.

This is not a philosophy of caution — it is a philosophy of accountability. If the Sprint works, the numbers show it. If it does not, the numbers show that too. Decisive Founders respect that distinction.

The Road to BetterEver

Sujoy Basak started in business in 2001, learning the fundamentals of customer acquisition and value delivery hands-on in a family enterprise. Over the next two decades, he built, lost, and rebuilt businesses across multiple industries — from a stock market franchise to a holistic well-being venture to corporate marketing and sales training.

Each venture taught the same lesson from a different angle: the businesses that survived were not always the best at delivery. They were the ones whose market understood what they stood for. The ones that failed were often technically excellent but perceptually invisible — the market could not describe their value, so it defaulted to comparing them on price.

The pattern became undeniable. It was not about working harder or marketing louder. It was about how the buyer’s brain classified you in the first five seconds. And that classification was measurable.

Sujoy began studying the behavioural science behind decision-making: Kahneman and Tversky’s work on loss aversion and framing, Lieberman’s research on affect labelling, and the cognitive mechanisms that drive pattern recognition and trust formation. He applied these principles to the specific problem of B2B service positioning — not as theory, but as an engineering discipline with measurable inputs and outputs.

The result was the Neuro Positioning Model™: a four-phase system (Diagnose → Design → Integrate → Validate) with three proprietary metrics that turn perception into data. Delivered through the 21-Day Neuro Positioning Sprint, it is built for one specific audience: founder-led B2B service firms that have real expertise but a perception gap the market files wrong.

BetterEver is headquartered in Kolkata, India, with a presence in Florida, US, serving clients across the US, UK, and UAE.
